“Organic is my mission and my life. It is the way I want to shape the world of tomorrow – a life in harmony with nature, full of respect for everything that surrounds us. Every day on this farm is a step towards a sustainable future. “
My name is Anna Schaunitzer, and I’m working tirelessly to prepare for taking over our organic family farm, Moar zu Oberleitn. Our farm has been in operation for three generations and certified organic since 1996.
Into the fourth generation of sustainable farming
Supported by my father, I’m actively involved in the reforestation, all maintenance work, small-scale selective thinning, and smaller clear-cutting operations of our farm. We also make good use of renewable power resources – our farm is powered by our in-house small hydropower plant. We’ve created an additional storage pond to enable fish farming.

Leading organic communications
For over 5 years, I have been the Marketing Manager at the regional organic association “Biolandwirtschaft Ennstal.” Together with a colleague, I played a leading role in developing the new BIO website. This website consists of a public area and an internal member area. The public area is accessible to everyone and shares useful information related to organic farming, from news to recipes. The member area serves as a platform for more specific purposes, such as exchanging important documents, as well as livestock and feed exchange.
I also manage our association’s social media platforms (Facebook and Instagram), where we post simple but more videos and posts to make organic practices and knowledge more accessible to the public.

Championing organic outreach events
Besides virtual communications via websites and social media, we also arrange regular visits to primary schools to teach children about organic farming. In the harvest parade in 2022, we designed a tractor with a trailer under the motto “Biological Diversity of Our Member Farms” to showcase organic practices of grain, dairy, cattle, meat production and vegetable cultivation.
Building on Generations of Success
My goal is to continue running the farm in the best possible way. In the first few years, I particularly want to focus on converting the old “barn building” and the historic “smithy” into a cozy holiday home. Afterward, I would like to introduce our guests to our organic farm and give them an insight into the valuable work our organic farmers do every day to successfully pass on a sustainable and future-proof operation to the next generation.
